This Privacy Policy explains how Santiniketan High School ("we", "our", "the school") collects, uses, and protects information through the SchoolHive Teacher Android application, used by teachers and school administrators.
1. Who Uses This App
SchoolHive Teacher is intended exclusively for adults — school staff including teachers, administrators, principals, and support staff. Students and children do not use this app directly.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account & Authentication
- Login credentials (username/email and password — passwords are never stored in plain text)
- Authentication tokens stored securely on-device using platform encryption (expo-secure-store)
- User ID assigned by the school system
2.2 Profile Information
- Name, email address, role/designation, department
- Profile photo (if set)
2.3 Academic & Operational Records
- Attendance records created or modified by the teacher
- Marks, grades, assessments entered by the teacher
- Diary entries, homework, circulars, and announcements
- Leave requests and approvals
- Fee records viewed in the course of school duties
2.4 App Usage Data
- App interactions and in-app search history (e.g. searching for a student)
- Crash reports and diagnostic information sent to our crash-reporting service (Sentry)
- Device identifier used for push notifications (FCM token)

4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Our backend server (hosted on our own infrastructure) — all data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
- Sentry — crash reporting only; no personally identifiable information is intentionally included in crash reports
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — push notification delivery only
5. Data Security
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Authentication tokens are stored in the device's secure keystore (OS-managed encryption)
- Sensitive screens (login, payments) are protected against screenshots
- The app does not allow Android backup of app data (
allowBackup=false)
6. Data Retention
Account and academic data is retained for the duration of your employment at the school and for as long as required by applicable law. Crash logs are retained for up to 90 days on our crash-reporting service.
7. Your Rights
Under the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based

8. Children's Data
This app is for adult staff only. Student data (minors) is managed by the school on behalf of parents/guardians and is only accessible to authorised staff. The app is not directed at children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
